Rare WW2 period WVS Uniform Set

WVS uniform set to a Mrs Halliday, Carmarthenshire WVS Civil Defence, the set comprises:

• Dress with badges (not named) as new condition, only fault is one belt loop needs re-stitching
• Armband with 2 chevrons in almost mint condition apart from 2 really tiny moth nips at top
• Scarce WVS Greatcoat with name, WVS badges. As new but one button broken (see photo) WVS Label in lining.
• Beret With WVS Marking inside and cloth badge
• Very Scarce Scarf named to Halliday in VGC.
• Box addressed to Mrs John Halliday (it used to be the polite custom to address wives as their husbands forname) Basingstoke, Hants (so there's a mystery, was she posted to Wales?)

When formed in 1938 the WVS was organised as a womens ARP organisation for assisting people during and after air raids. During the Blitz they provided much needed aid under very difficult and often dangerous conditions setting up rest centres, crewing mobile canteens, setting up street kitchens and cooking food, giving first aid and of course assisting  with evacution and billeting of children when war broke out.
