WW2 WVS Civil Defence Enamel Sign

Original WW2 WVS enamel sign from my collection. When formed in 1938 the WVS was organised as a womens ARP organisation for assisting people during and after air raids. During the Blitz they provided much needed aid under very difficult and often dangerous conditions setting up rest centres, crewing mobile canteens, setting up street kitchens and cooking food, giving first aid and of course assisting  with evacution and billeting of children when war broke out.
