Military personnel using telephones or wireless still needed to use the equipment in the event of a gas attack so respirators were issued with a plug that could be unscrewed and a microphone fitted.
Dated 1941 this mask has the early was stockinette covering which was dispensed with later on as it would be difficult to clean of gas contamination, especially vessicants such as mustard gas. The mask is overall VGC but the strap pad has stiffened. Comes with Cotton waste and a 1942 anti dim in a MkVII 1941 dated bag.
WARNING: Respirators should NEVER be worn.
