1942 dated Camp bed (OFF-CB2)

1942 dated Officers camp bed. Frame and canvas dated 1942. Canvas seems to be in good strong condition. near excellent condition overall, small faults; little bit of decorative trim loose to sides which shows fixing marks but this is easily fixed and does not affect the bed, small tear about 1.5" long, easily repaired, almost unnoticeable light storage staining Overall condition VGC

These beds were in theory for officers but seem to have been used by many others, the bed design has been around for over a century and featured in the camping section of various large department stores which equipped expeditions, safaris and soldiers on active service. interestingly an 'improved' design' is advertised in the Gamages catalogue of about 1920-30 which joined the poles with a kind of hook rather than a socket this was also the type offered by Army & Navy Stores in their 139/40 catalogue, however the British Army went for the  earliersocket type as these were presumably cheaper, See photos.
