During WW2 the Corporal in each infantry section was supposed to carry a pair of wire cutters and a machete. These cutters are one of the types issued and were superior to the non folding type as more pressure could be exerted. Many of them were of WW2 vintage as the design remained unchanged from when they were introduced in the conflict. They were normally carried in a webbing pouch. This type were also issued with some vehicles and artillery and carried on well into the 1980's at least. |
