This series of leaflets, issued from the Lord Privy Seals office in July 1939, two months before war broke out, attempted to address the preparedness of the populace in the increasingly likely event that war with Germany would become a reality. How useful these leaflets were, and how many were just htrown in the bin by a anation still recovering from the effects of the Great War, we shall never know, but the fact that these leaflets do survive shows that some people considred them important.
