From Scarlet to Khaki.
An excellent book which would be ideal for schools and all those carrying out family history research. It provides, with text and many previously unpublished photographs, the necessary information to interpret uniform & equipment in old photographs thus aiding identification of period and units. 32pp, A4 size, quality reproduced photographs.

The PBI
By Charles J. Hanaway
The author served as an infantryman in four regiments, during the thick of the fighting in Normandy he was with the 6th Battalion The Royal Scots Fusiliers. He describes in detail the difficuties of being a 'Southern Sassenach' in a Scots Regiment. After the D-Day landings he saw action with a carrier platoon throughout the fighting in the Bocage and the offensives of Goodwood, Epsom etc.
He was finally wounded and returned to england in 1945 being one of the very few to see the European campaign through virtually to its conclusion. Written in an old soldiers style it is an interesting and informative book and is recommended to anyone with an interest in this campaign. at the low price of £10 it should not be missed.
